A dream, we start with a dream. A speck of dust in the night sky, an achievable challenge which you begin to invest in not fully believing you will get it right. Life can deal some pretty harsh reality checks to keep you from venturing too far into the unknown. To trust and believe that you can make the impossible happen is with a certain amount of foolishness and trust that your heart will lead you to the right place.
Going against the grain, what is known as the norm, was not easy. How does one follow one dream to the sacrifice of others?
There is only one way, with conviction.
I am here right now because of you, with you. Because I dreamed and you believed in me you helped me make this my reality.
If life could explain the outcome to us in explicit pictures, I think that everything would be so much simpler. But we have a perception - a reach out into the distance, a lifeline that we clutch onto. That was me living on the ocean - a totally foreign concept of being 100% in nature. Living and breathing life without borders or boundaries and every day setting a new longitude and latitude as my home for that night. It brings many scary daily challenges of braving elements but, while we might appear fearless, we seldom are. These challenges we overcome turn into our victories and, more than that, become our knowledge.
So many people have asked me how it is really going and I have to tell you that the word journey does not even begin to describe the euphoria of being open to new ideas and new horizons every day. I have been able to disconnect myself from the accepted norm of a bricks and mortar home to rather follow what is in my heart.
When we arrived in this new country I felt strangely disconnected from the image I had held onto for so long, of moving into this new life. While we build many dreams we so seldom meet them without changing our path along the way. My course has remained true but I have changed myself along the way. I truly believe I am a better person for it. I am influenced by being one with nature and the beauty that surrounds me with 360 degree vistas. I wake up each morning to smell, taste and touch the success of my dream.
How funny is life that along the way we experience hardships, regrets and sorrows - especially of disconnection from loved ones. But the pure nature of people is that we can harness the power of holding onto the strength of the positive and absorb the good.
So we are well and we have survived the journey to this wonderful place of the unknown. What a beautiful story I have traveled so far and I hope that you can apply a portion of it to the dreams in your life - whatever they are and no matter how silly they might initially appear to you. Reach for it; if you don’t you will just remain where you are.
